What is PSR?
St. Bridget of Kildare Parish offers a formal catechetical program for children in PreK to 8th grade who do not attend a full time Catholic school. PSR (Parish School of Religion) classes are offered on Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm to 7:15pm throughout the school year. The mission of our PSR program is to teach all students about our Catholic faith, prepare them to receive the Sacraments, and instill in them a lifelong desire to follow and proclaim the message of Jesus.
Our Parish School of Religion (PSR) exists to support parents in their role as the primary educators of their children (CCC 2223). Our PSR Catechists are a group of dedicated people from the parishes of St. Bridget of Kildare, St. James, and St. Mary's, who are willing to share their time and talents with the families who are enrolled in PSR.
The PSR Calendar maps out the timeline for the classes and sacraments. In 2nd grade, students prepare to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and their First Holy Communion. In 8th grade, students prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.New for 2024-2025 St. Bridget PSR1. FAMILY FEE - The 2024-2025 PSR Fee is one fee per family. All children entering grades Kindergarten to 8th grade are welcome into the PSR program. The family fees are dependent on if your family is new to the program or returning to the program from the 2023-2024 school year:- NEW Family PSR Fee = $300 (for families who were not enrolled in St. Bridget PSR or St. Bridget School during the 2023-2024 school year)
- RETURNING Family PSR Fee = $200 (for families who were enrolled in St. Bridget PSR during the 2023-2024 school year)
3. CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD (CGS) - Our younger PSR students (PreK to 1st grade) will experience the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Atrium during PSR time. You can watch an informative video from EWTN here, which gives an overview of this program. One additional CGS session is scheduled for Sunday mornings, and you can register students ages 3-6 here, if they are unable to attend on Wednesday evenings during PSR time. Space is limited, so register quickly!
4. FAMILY FAITH FORMATION - All families will experience Family Faith Formation on the 2nd Wednesday of each month during PSR class time, 6:00-7:15pm. This is a requirement of all PSR families, and parents will not be allowed to drop off their child/ren on these evenings, as they are designed to be experienced as a family. Dinner will be served, family activities will be presented, & PSR students will go to their PSR classrooms at 6:50pm while the adults will stay in the Gym with Fr. Nord & Director of Religious Education & Evangelization Denise Brickler until PSR classes end at 7:15pm. At least one adult from each family must attend each month with their child/ren.
We never want cost to be an obstacle for our children to receive religious instruction.
